SUMMARY

Prof. Mundia Muya is the Dean of the School of Engineering at the University of Zambia. He is an International Member of the Global Infrastructure Anti-Corruption Centre (GIACC) Advisory Council (Read more) based in the United Kingdom. He is a Director on the Engineering Registration Board and is Past President of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ). He was Chairman of the National Housing Authority and Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Zambia. He has served as director on the boards of the Road Development Agency in Zambia, Zambia Centre for Dispute Resolution, Road Contractors Company Limited, and National Council for Construction. He has been Executive Committee Member of the Zambia Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and is a member of the Expert Group (EGr) of the Network of African Science Academies (NASAC) based in Kenya. He has served as an external examiner at Makerere University in Uganda, and as Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Zambia. He was previously Chairman of the Editorial Board and Editor of The Zambian Engineer, Journal of the Engineering Institution of Zambia, and Associate Editor of the Journal of Science and Technology published by the University of Zambia Press. He is a civil engineer. He is an Honorary Fellow (Life Member) of the Engineering Institution of Zambia, is registered with the Engineering Registration Board, a Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He undertook a Commonwealth funded post-doctoral research at Loughborough University in the UK where he earlier obtained his PhD in Construction Management and an MSc in Construction. He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Zambia. He attended secondary education at Hillcrest Technical Secondary School in Livingstone, Southern Province and primary education at Muoyo Primary School in Senanga, Western Province in Zambia.

1. December 2012 – to date: An Assessment of the Business Development Needs of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the Building Construction Industry, International Labour Organisation (ILO)
2. March – June 2010:  Research Team Leader, Construction Sector Transparency (CoST) Initiative Baseline Study.  A global study covering seven (7) countries: Ethiopia; Malawi; Philippines; Tanzania; United Kingdom; Vietnam; and Zambia.  The study was undertaken on behalf of the UK London International CoST Secretariat and the National Council for Construction in Zambia and was financed by the Department for International Development (DfID) and the World Bank
